Rifles
ASJ Trophy Hunting offers clients the use of their rifles while they are hunting in New Zealand. The weight restrictions imposed by airlines and the hunters need for heavy gear for hunting, we at ASJ Trophy Hunting have a variety of firearms which hunters can choose from and are encouraged to bring their ammunition with them to use or ammunition costs can be added to the final account.
One of the first chores on arrival is to sights in your firearm whether brought by you or using one of ASJ Trophy Hunting's weapons


Shooting Distances:     between 70 - 400 yards
Caliber Required:        between 270 - 300 magnum

Firearms Permits

Fill in the Visitors Firearms License and Permit to Import Firearms and fax to the NZ Police Firearm Department (644 499 1065). 
Upon arrival in New Zealand, collect your firearm at the luggage claim.  You will need to pay $NZ 25.00, to obtain you permit. Please be ready to pay in New Zealand dollars please.  These are obtainable at the Police Station at Auckland or Christchurch Airports (the two international ports of entry into New Zealand). 

You are required to provide:

  • your overseas licence

  • one recent passport style photo

  • three documents that prove your identity (passport, birth certificate, drivers licence, Photo ID, credit card / bank card)

  • contact details of two referees.  Once referee must be your spouse or next of kin, the other must be someone who is over 20 years and not related to you.  You will need to provide their full name, address, date of birth and phone number.

  • payment fee of NZ$25.00

 


Please Note:

A permit is not required to import
archery equipment for a guided hunt in New Zealand.  You are able to carry your bow as part of
your luggage.  Aim to shoot up to 50 - 60 yards (45-50 meters) with your bow.

Black powder rifles are able to be used in New Zealand, if that is your weapon of choice.

No hand- guns are permitted to be used or brought to New Zealand as they are illegal.
 

Fishing Licenses are required for fishing in New Zealand’s rivers and streams. Licenses are readily available and can be purchased on arrival in Camp.

 

Duck hunting license is also required and readily available as well. This would be arranged on arrival  if you wish to hunt water fowl.
